Orioles Walk Off with Win

Brian Roberts' solo shot in the bottom of the tenth gave the Orioles a 5-4 win against the Yankees tonight. It was a much-needed win for a much-maligned ball club that had dropped six in a row going into tonight's game. However, I don't completely rescind my previous statements (see post below). I still think the Orioles are sufficiently lacking in starting pitching, bullpen pitching and offense, with Melvin Mora and Javy Lopez out due to injury. Tonight, though, Sidney Ponson gave Baltimore a serviceable performance, and the O's had just enough offense to pull this one out.

I love baseball. I love the Orioles. But the damned season is too much of an emotional roller coaster for me. I seem to live and die with each game, which is unhealthy, considering there are 162 in a season.

Anyway, a good win for the Orioles. An important win for the Orioles. I'm happy for them, and it would be nice if they could hand it to Mike Mussina tomorrow night. We'll see.

(By the by, all my statements about Sammy Sosa DO still apply. And they will always apply.)

Led Zeppelin -- Ramble On

Leaves are falling all around, It's time I was on my way.
Thanks to you, I'm much obliged for such a pleasant stay.
But now it's time for me to go. The autumn moon lights my way.
For now I smell the rain, and with it pain, and it's headed my way.
Sometimes I grow so tired, but I know I've got one thing I got to do...

Ramble On, And now's the time, the time is now, to sing my song.
I'm goin' 'round the world, I got to find my girl, on my way.
I've been this way ten years to the day, Ramble On,
Gotta find the queen of all my dreams.
