White Noise

I watched White Noise, the horror/suspense flick starring Michael Keaton. I thought it had its high moments. Overall, it's a pretty decent movie. It was good to see Keaton in a lead role again. He was fantastic in Batman, Batman Returns, Night Shift and Beetlejuice. He did a very nice job in this movie, which was pretty spooky. It deals with EVP's (electronic voice phenomenon), which essentially posits a reality in which the dead can communicate with the living through the white noise emminated by TV's and radio (i.e., you can hear their voices and sometimes make out their likenesses). EVP's are widely accepted worldwide as legitimate. This movie does a nice job of explaining their essence and importance, but it takes a turn toward fantasy which doesn't pay off as well as it should have. But see it anyway if you're a Michael Keaton fan.

Orioles Update
The Orioles beat the Pittsburgh Pirates tonight 4-3 behind six solid innings from Sidney Ponson, who gave up only two runs. Rafael Palmeiro drove in the winning run in the top of the eighth on a sacrifice fly to centerfield. Miguel Tejada hit a two-run home run in the top of the first inning to give the Orioles an early lead. The two teams will meet for two more tomorrow with rookie Hayden Penn taking the mound for Baltimore.

Random Daily Show Joke
Last week, Stephen Colbert did a report on Deep Throat. In his stand-up, he said, "Was Terry Schiavo really in a vegetative state, or was she one Pilates class away from joining the cast of Stomp?" Just a hi-larious line.
