Randomness

You know, it's always the smallest thing that wears on our nerves the greates. When we stub our toe, drop our keys, misspell a word, or stab someone 20 times in the right arm, we always experience a great deal of annoyance. And with each little incident, we clog another artery. But I'm speaking specifically of when you go to a movie theater with a buddy and there's virtually no one else in there. There's maybe a couple sitting in the back and someone flying solo toward the front, but that's it. Then, another three or four people walk in and sit in the seats directly in front of you. I know we've all experienced this before, but it just happened to me recently.

I turned to my buddy, and I said, "Let's just move."

He said, "No, we're not moving. They are."

"There's no need to make a scene, man," I responded.

He ignored my last comment, leaned over and tapped on the shoulder of one of the two girls sitting in front of us. He said quietly, "Excuse me. Could you please move?" It was phrased as a question, but it was delivered as an order.

The two grumbled something to each other but moved down the row a few seats, anyway. Then, the one my friend had tapped turned to us and said with frustration, "Are you happy now?"

My friend shot them a look and fired back: "I won't be happy until you burn in hell."

Well, I was shocked he would say that, and they looked aghast, but I couldn't stop laughing. A few minutes later, their boyfriends walked in. A couple of big guys, too. They sat down next to the two girls who were presumably their girlfriends, and the girls started talking to them. After a couple of minutes, the two guys turned back toward us and glared.

Well, I couldn't enjoy the movie because the entire time I was peering out of the corner of my eye. The guys didn't do anything or say anything for the entire movie, and they never approached us after it. Good thing, too, because as you can see from above, I have stabbed someone. I'm not afraid to use a knife. I've got knife-wielding skills like a Hispanic.*

Anyway, I've posted two days in a row now. I hope this will hold you and your sad little lives over for about three months.

*May not have actually happened.
