Per J-Mazz's request, I'm adding a No. 6 to my hip-hop album list because I did overlook perhaps the most unique duo in hip-hop history: OutKast. So, 6 on the list will be OutKast's Aquemini, a fabulous album that burst Big Boi and Andre 3000 on the scene. All of their albums are quirky and wonderful listening experiences. See, especially, Stankonia and Speakerboxxx/The Love Below.
OutKast didn't break the top 5 because only Andre from the duo lyrically compares to Nas, Talib Kweli, Mos Def, Guru, Common and Black Thought. Big Boi is a formidable talent, but he's more like the Scottie Pippen to Andre's Michael Jordan in rapping ability.
Good note, J-Mazz.
